Devo Trust in the Lord
Psalm 125:1-2 (NIV)
1 Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion,
which cannot be shaken but endures forever.
2 As the mountains surround Jerusalem,
so the Lord surrounds his people
both now and forevermore.
There are times when we are in dark places. We can’t see the hand in front of our face. Everything seems to be falling apart and we feel forsaken. It is these times we trust the Lord and not our blinded eyes. We go to the cleft of the rock and dwell with Him. We don’t go by what we see, but by what He has spoken. It is then we can’t be shaken and know He has surrounded us. It is then we can have that peace that surpasses all understanding.

Hebrews 11:1-2 New International Version (NIV)
11 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. 2 This is what the ancients were commended for.
Joshua 3:7-17 New International Version (NIV)
7 And the Lord said to Joshua, “Today I will begin to exalt you in the eyes of all Israel, so they may know that I am with you as I was with Moses. 8 Tell the priests who carry the ark of the covenant: ‘When you reach the edge of the Jordan’s waters, go and stand in the river.’”
9 Joshua said to the Israelites, “Come here and listen to the words of the Lord your God. 10 This is how you will know that the living God is among you and that he will certainly drive out before you the Canaanites, Hittites, Hivites, Perizzites, Girgashites, Amorites and Jebusites. 11 See, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth will go into the Jordan ahead of you. 12 Now then, choose twelve men from the tribes of Israel, one from each tribe. 13 And as soon as the priests who carry the ark of the Lord—the Lord of all the earth—set foot in the Jordan, its waters flowing downstream will be cut off and stand up in a heap.”
14 So when the people broke camp to cross the Jordan, the priests carrying the ark of the covenant went ahead of them. 15 Now the Jordan is at flood stage all during harvest. Yet as soon as the priests who carried the ark reached the Jordan and their feet touched the water’s edge, 16 the water from upstream stopped flowing. It piled up in a heap a great distance away, at a town called Adam in the vicinity of Zarethan, while the water flowing down to the Sea of the Arabah (that is, the Dead Sea) was completely cut off. So the people crossed over opposite Jericho. 17 The priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord stopped in the middle of the Jordan and stood on dry ground, while all Israel passed by until the whole nation had completed the crossing on dry ground.
Joshua hears the word of the Lord and tells the people. The priests believed the word. The Priests put a big chunk of gold and wood on their shoulders and walk into the Jordan. Now the Jordan is a very fast moving and muddy river at this time and a mile and a half wide and yet the believed God’s word went to the river and stepped in. Certain in their faith God would do what He said and they did not let circumstance dissuade them from moving forward. Then stood their ground in the middle of the circumstance that others could move forward also. Go, believe God and stand your ground. Sometimes others can’t move forward in their calling because you are standing still. Get moving. Faith is action.

Hebrews 4:1-11 New International Version (NIV)
4 Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it. 2 For we also have had the good news proclaimed to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because they did not share the faith of those who obeyed. 3 Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said, “So I declared on oath in my anger, ‘They shall never enter my rest.’’
And yet his works have been finished since the creation of the world.4 For somewhere he has spoken about the seventh day in these words: “On the seventh day God rested from all his works.” 5 And again in the passage above he says, “They shall never enter my rest.” 6 Therefore since it still remains for some to enter that rest, and since those who formerly had the good news proclaimed to them did not go in because of their disobedience, 7 God again set a certain day, calling it “Today.” This he did when a long time later he spoke through David, as in the passage already quoted: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.”
8 For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. 9 There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10 for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works,[e] just as God did from his. 11 Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.
Many want the promises of God but don’t want the responsibility of believing and obeying. I don’t think it’s hard to figure out that if we walk in obedience to God’s word we will have the peace of God and enter His promises. Don’t forget He promises to give us more than we can ask or think. Now notice in the above scripture that the word, or promises of God, were of no value if we do not mix it with faith. I want you to also notice that disobedience and lack of faith are used almost interchangeable in this context. I could put it this way, if you live in sin you have no faith, therefore His word is of no value to you.

2 Corinthians 1:18-22 New International Version (NIV)
18 But as surely as God is faithful, our message to you is not “Yes” and “No.” 19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us—by me and Silas and Timothy—was not “Yes” and “No,” but in him it has always been “Yes.” 20 For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so, through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God. 21 Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, 22 set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. 2 Peter 3:9 New International Version (NIV)9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
Isaiah 55:9-11 New International Version (NIV)
9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
10 As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
The promises of Abraham are ours. God declares His word and fulfills His word in due season. Never late but always on time for He is time. He is in our past, present, and future. He knows when to deliver to us the fulfillment of His word for our best, so do not doubt or waver in unbelief. Standing firm in all we do knowing he will see to it His promise (His word) will come to maturity and produce fruit in our lives.

Genesis 15:1-11 New International Version (NIV)
15 After this, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision:“Do not be afraid, Abram.
I am your shield,
your very great reward.”
2 But Abram said, “Sovereign Lord, what can you give me since I remain childless and the one who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?”
3 And Abram said, “You have given me no children; so a servant in my household will be my heir.”
4 Then the word of the Lord came to him: “This man will not be your heir, but a son who is your own flesh and blood will be your heir.” 5 He took him outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”
6 Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness.
7 He also said to him, “I am the Lord, who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to take possession of it.”
8 But Abram said, “Sovereign Lord, how can I know that I will gain possession of it?”
9 So the Lord said to him, “Bring me a heifer, a goat and a ram, each three years old, along with a dove and a young pigeon.”
10 Abram brought all these to him, cut them in two and arranged the halves opposite each other; the birds, however, he did not cut in half. 11 Then birds of prey came down on the carcasses, but Abram drove them away.
God made a promise to Abram to inherit the promise land, but to receive the promise he had to believe God’s word which he did. God credited it to him as righteousness. God had Abram prepare a sacrifice to present to Him so he could receive the promise, but the birds of the air came down to take it. Satan always tries to steal our offerings to God so he can stop the promises of God in our lives. But Abram would not let Satan take what he believed in his heart and fought the birds off. We need to do the same. Fight off those who would steal the promises of God from our hearts and stay steadfast in waiting to come into what God has promised us. Has God given you prophecies over your life? Don’t let Satan or others take them from you. Stand your ground.

Matthew 21:19-22 King James Version (KJV)
19 And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away.
20 And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away!
21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.
22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
God confirms His word with signs and wonders, but sometimes they may be simply removing the obstacles in our lives. Notice Jesus did and told us to speak to the problem. If the problem is a fruitless tree taking up the soil tell it to die, or if it is a mountain in your way tell it to throw itself in the sea.
Faith moves mountains. There is power is the tongue when it speaks God’s word. Complaining and excuses for not moving forward will get you the same punishment as those in the way. Don’t become part of the problem by giving to the problem but be the solution by speaking God Word to the problem. Be a mountain mover not a mountain builder. God says every mountain will be laid low.

Hebrews 3:7-4:2 (NIV) 7 So, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you hear his voice,
8 do not harden your hearts
as you did in the rebellion,
during the time of testing in the wilderness,
9 where your ancestors tested and tried me,
though for forty years they saw what I did.
10 That is why I was angry with that generation;
I said, ‘Their hearts are always going astray,
and they have not known my ways.’
11 So I declared on oath in my anger,
‘They shall never enter my rest.’ ” 12 See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. 13 But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. 14 We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end. 15 As has just been said:
“Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts
as you did in the rebellion.”
16 Who were they who heard and rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt? 17 And with whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies perished in the wilderness? 18 And to whom did God swear that they would never enter his rest if not to those who disobeyed? 19 So we see that they were not able to enter, because of their unbelief. 4 Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it. 2 For we also have had the good news proclaimed to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because they did not share the faith of those who obeyed.
I’ll try to keep this short. Faith comes by hearing God’s word, but faith is activated by obedience. You must obey the word of God to enter into the promises of God. The Israelites rebelled so they never entered the promised land. If we obey His word, we have the same opportunity to enter into His promises.

Devo America how did we end up here?
Ezekiel 22:23-30 New International Version (NIV)
23 Again the word of the Lord came to me: 24 “Son of man, say to the land, ‘You are a land that has not been cleansed or rained on in the day of wrath.’ 25 There is a conspiracy of her princes within her like a roaring lion tearing its prey; they devour people, take treasures and precious things and make many widows within her. 26 Her priests do violence to my law and profane my holy things; they do not distinguish between the holy and the common; they teach that there is no difference between the unclean and the clean; and they shut their eyes to the keeping of my Sabbaths, so that I am profaned among them. 27 Her officials within her are like wolves tearing their prey; they shed blood and kill people to make unjust gain. 28 Her prophets whitewash these deeds for them by false visions and lying divinations. They say, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says’—when the Lord has not spoken. 29 The people of the land practice extortion and commit robbery; they oppress the poor and needy and mistreat the foreigner, denying them justice.
30 “I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one.
This is not about politics and if you think it is you are part of the problem. I was listening to the president and politicians fighting about building a wall on our southern border. I was thinking to myself almost since time began walls have been built to keep enemies out and why has this not been finished a long time ago. God spoke to me and said because you didn’t need it. You didn’t need it because you listened to me. You didn’t murder babies, you honored my Sabbaths, you went to church and raised your children in fear of me, you brought me your tithes and offerings, you loved me and put me first. I was a wall about this country and I loved her as my own. I blessed you in the morning, when you got up and, in the evening, when you laid down your head. I kept your enemies from your coasts. I was your wall before you forsook me. The problem isn’t a wall, but we need to humble ourselves, seek God’s face, repent and turn from our wicked ways. Then He will hear from heaven and heal our land. I found that when we ask the wrong questions, we get the wrong answers. Is the question do we need a wall to protect us or do we need to repent and let God protect us again?

Devo Only Believe Part 10
Romans 10:17-21 New International Version (NIV)
17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. 18 But I ask: Did they not hear? Of course they did:
“Their voice has gone out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.”
19 Again I ask: Did Israel not understand? First, Moses says,
“I will make you envious by those who are not a nation;
I will make you angry by a nation that has no understanding.”
20 And Isaiah boldly says,
“I was found by those who did not seek me;
I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me.”
21 But concerning Israel he says,
“All day long I have held out my hands
to a disobedient and obstinate people.”
Faith comes from hearing the Word or Jesus’ voice. When we have relationship we hear His voice. It’s not just simply reading the word, but hearing the voice of Christ through others speaking by His Spirit. All may hear but all do not accept His voice. He will send His voice into all the word that they may come in, but not all will accept His voice.

Devo Only Believe Part 9
Hebrews 11:1-9 King James Version (KJV)
11 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
2 For by it the elders obtained a good report.
3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
9 By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:
For me faith believing is about knowing the Word but please understand me. “The letter of the law killeth the spirit gives life.” “In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God,, and the word was God.” If you know the living Word not the letter of the Word there will be evidence. God confirms His word with signs and wonders. Remember what Jesus said to Philip, “Don’t you know me.” “Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves.” There will be evidence or substance to your belief, faith or relationship with God. That evidence goes two ways. If you believe there will be action to your faith and by what you do others will see the fourth man in the fire, evidence. The evidence others see in your actions will bring substance to light. Look at Able, Enoch, Noah, Isaac, Jacob, David, Moses, and so many others. We see God through their actions and by their actions it produced substance that can be seen, touched, heard, smelled, and tasted. You get the vision of God through the relationship you have with God. You vision is only the size of your faith or relationship with God. How is your relationship with God Almighty? Is there evidence of your faith that others can touch and see? 2 Timothy 3:5 (NIV)5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people. Do you only have a form of Godliness and no relationship? If you have a relationship then there will be power, substance to to your walk, otherwise God tells us to have nothing to do with you. Ouch!
