Enter His Rest
New International Version
Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it.
How do we fall short of entering His rest? By not having Faith in Him and what He did for us. Christ Jesus did it all on the Cross. He paid for everything we need including eternal life if we believe. Therefore we can rest in Him. That is why he said ‘ it is Finished ’. He did all he is going to do. Now it is up to us to receive it by believing. Are you anxious or in turmoil. Enter His rest by trusting in Him. And how do we know we trust Him? By obeying Him.

Matthew 22…21“Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “if you have faith and do not doubt, not only will you do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen. 22If you believe, you will receive”whatever you ask in prayer.
What stipulation does Jesus give there? To have faith and not doubt. If you ‘believe’ is the key phrase or word here. Scripture tells us in that God is not a man that he should lie. Either we believe that or we don’t. If you know someone you believe them when they tell you something. You trust their character and that they are going to do what they said they will do. Same should go with our relationship with Christ Jesus! He said it so therefore it is true! I believe that is why so many times we don’t get answers to our prayers. So many times I hear people ask for prayer but in their hearts they don’t truly believe for the answer they just say it out of habit or to get attention. How do we know that? Because the Word tells us in Luke 6:26 that ‘out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks’ and as soon as they ask for prayer they speak doubt and unbelief or keep talking about how big the problem is but not how big our God is and what He already did for us on Calvary. Everything! He saved us from whatever we need saving from so get to know Him, spend time with Him in His word and your faith will grow! And pray and believe and speak His words to the situation and that mountain will be removed.

Luke 2:1-20 (NIV)
2 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2 (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to their own town to register.
4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.
8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”
16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.
God does not send angels to Caesar, the high priest, or the governor, but shepherds the outcast society. They were looked down on. They smelled like the sheep. People of this time would cross the road so they would not smell or touch them and yet God held them in honor. We are His sheep and we smell but God lives with us. God comes to the ordinary and humble. He loves His sheep. This is extraordinary.

Luke 1:45 (NIV)
45 Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!”
Luke 1:57-66 (NIV)
57 When it was time for Elizabeth to have her baby, she gave birth to a son. 58 Her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown her great mercy, and they shared her joy.
59 On the eighth day they came to circumcise the child, and they were going to name him after his father Zechariah, 60 but his mother spoke up and said, “No! He is to be called John.”
61 They said to her, “There is no one among your relatives who has that name.”
62 Then they made signs to his father, to find out what he would like to name the child. 63 He asked for a writing tablet, and to everyone’s astonishment he wrote, “His name is John.” 64 Immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue set free, and he began to speak, praising God. 65 All the neighbors were filled with awe, and throughout the hill country of Judea people were talking about all these things. 66 Everyone who heard this wondered about it, asking, “What then is this child going to be?” For the Lord’s hand was with him.
Just try to contrast the two. This priest who teaches God’s word has been mute until God fulfills His word in his life the other Mary conceives the word and gives birth to Him. Blessed is whoever believes that the Lord will fulfill His promise to them.
Acts 2:37-39 (NIV)
37 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”
38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”
God’s promise is for you. Will you believe?

Devo Birth of Jesus Part 3
Luke 1:26-38 (NIV)
26 In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, 27 to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 28 The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”
29 Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30 But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. 31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”
34 “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”
35 The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. 36 Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. 37 For no word from God will ever fail.”
38 “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.
Once again we have a very ordinary girl for that time. This angel shows up and speaks over her and she does an extraordinary thing, she believes him. She says ‘be it unto me’. What words of faith! So many try to reason how God can do it instead of just taking Him at His word. I wonder how many generations would have had to pass before someone would have believed if Mary had not. This very young girl released Jesus God’s word to the world. Think about it. How many today would have not believed or would not have been virgins. We must walk in holiness to see the miraculous. Jesus came to make us holy, but we must walk in it and be obedient to see God’s work in our lives.
