Devo God's ways are not our ways Part 8
Exodus 4:2 New International Version (NIV) 2 Then the Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?” “A staff,” he replied. A shepherd’s staff to humble the most powerful nation on earth. Seeing how this is a God who used a boy to slay a giant why not? He uses humble things to show His strength. When I am the weakest I am the strongest through Christ Jesus who strengthens me. The weaker the better. We have no excuse to not be used by God. Pastor Jeff Lane

Acts 9:11-16 New International Version (NIV) 11 The Lord told him, “Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying. 12 In a vision he has seen a man named Ananias come and place his hands on him to restore his sight.” 13 “Lord,” Ananias answered, “I have heard many reports about this man and all the harm he has done to your holy people in Jerusalem. 14 And he has come here with authority from the chief priests to arrest all who call on your name.” 15 But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel. 16 I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.” I’m sorry I think I would have sided with Ananias on this one. Really Lord this guy is here to kill us, and you want me to what? God knows the heart and I am so glad he chose Paul because we would be missing alot of the Bible if He had not. God uses murderers, tramps, and thieves. Wow what a God and what a compassionate God. We would have locked him up. Pastor Jeff Lane Devo God’s ways are not ours part 4
Genesis 37:2-11 New International Version (NIV) 2 This is the account of Jacob’s family line. Joseph, a young man of seventeen, was tending the flocks with his brothers, the sons of Bilhah and the sons of Zilpah, his father’s wives, and he brought their father a bad report about them. 3 Now Israel loved Joseph more than any of his other sons, because he had been born to him in his old age; and he made an ornate[a] robe for him. 4 When his brothers saw that their father loved him more than any of them, they hated him and could not speak a kind word to him. 5 Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him all the more. 6 He said to them, “Listen to this dream I had: 7 We were binding sheaves of grain out in the field when suddenly my sheaf rose and stood upright, while your sheaves gathered around mine and bowed down to it.” 8 His brothers said to him, “Do you intend to reign over us? Will you actually rule us?” And they hated him all the more because of his dream and what he had said. 9 Then he had another dream, and he told it to his brothers. “Listen,” he said, “I had another dream, and this time the sun and moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me.” 10 When he told his father as well as his brothers, his father rebuked him and said, “What is this dream you had? Will your mother and I and your brothers actually come and bow down to the ground before you?” 11 His brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept the matter in mind. Joseph was a young man and he understood the position in the family his dad had for him. God gave him dreams to show Him what God would do in his life and to humble him so he could use him. God’s plans were bigger than dad’s. The dreams God gave him God used to drive Joseph out of his home so God could make him into a humble man that God could use. He took all the pride out of Joseph and replaced with His Spirit. Sometimes God’s plan for us can become the stumbling block to bring us down to build us up. Joseph’s hard life was God’s plan of salvation for the world. Wow! Trust the Lord. Others may mean it for evil, but God meant it for good. Pastor Jeff Lane Devo God’s ways are not ours part 1
Isaiah 55:8 New International Version (NIV) 8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. There have been different scriptures that have greatly influenced my life and this is one. I have always referred back to this one when watching God answer my prayers or contemplating my life realizing He does more than I can ask or think. And know that He knows the end result I must trust and pray His will be done. We always want to use the front door and He takes us through the back. He protects us from evil in all he does so often times not bringing attention to us to quickly in our work for Him. He does this because He knows our enemy and He knows our heart. I have many shortcomings and there are plenty of people who are more than happy to point out why I am not qualified for the work, but he does not look at any of that. He takes me where I am at considers my willingness, faith. and trust in Him, then He qualifies me by His Spirit. It not by might, education, power, standing, or any of these things. You might say on the contrary these things tend to get in the way of us walking by faith. No, it is simply humility and His Spirit that make the difference. To God be the Glory! Pastor Jeff Lane |
