Devo Law or Grace Part 5
Luke 18:18-30 (NIV)
18 A certain ruler asked him, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” 19 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. 20 You know the commandments: ‘You shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.” 21 “All these I have kept since I was a boy,” he said. 22 When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me. 23 When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was very wealthy. 24 Jesus looked at him and said, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God! 25 Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” 26 Those who heard this asked, “Who then can be saved?” 27 Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.” 28 Peter said to him, “We have left all we had to follow you!” 29 “Truly I tell you,” Jesus said to them, “no one who has left home or wife or brothers or sisters or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God 30 will fail to receive many times as much in this age, and in the age to come eternal life.”
Jesus taught you must lose your life to find it. The rich young ruler was unwilling to lose his life for God and others. It is easy to give up what you never had, but once you taste of the pleasures of the world it’s not so easy. It would have been better if he never had wealth that to lose his soul for it. Many ask that I pray they win the lotto or get rich. Now why would I pray so you might lose your soul? It is easy to say it won’t control me. Reality is another thing. Jesus said give it up, but some come and say give it to me. Trust me if you are a good steward and can be trusted with wealth and He desires for you to have it you will have it. It is easier to live under grace and just leave that up to God. Law or grace where would you live?

Devo Law or Grace Part 4
Galatians 5:13-26 (NIV)
13 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. 14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” 15 If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.
16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
We all sin at times, but those who live in it will not inherit the Kingdom. We are being transformed through the renewing of our minds by the washing of the word. It takes time to leave our former way of life, but if I continue to live in it I have not repented at all or if I return to it I leave the gift of grace. God is long suffering, who knows when He will decide to spit us out of His month. (See churches in Revelation) I ask why would you want to return to that which was destroying you in the first place? We are called to walk as Jesus walked. Walk in His love and grace and leave the rest behind.

Devo Law or Grace Part 3
1 Corinthians 6:7-11 (NIV)
7 The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated? 8 Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers and sisters. 9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
Keep in mind this was written to instruct the church not the world. Paul says that if we live in this way we will not inherit the Kingdom. We take ourselves out from under grace and place ourselves back under the law. We can’t continue to live in blatant open rebellion toward God by living knowingly in sin. Shall I spit on the cross of Jesus. Never. Paul says we cannot use grace as a license to sin. It gives us the freedom not to sin not to live in sin.
