Hosea 4:4-7 (NIV)
4 “But let no one bring a charge,
let no one accuse another,
for your people are like those
who bring charges against a priest.
5 You stumble day and night,
and the prophets stumble with you.
So I will destroy your mother--
6 my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.
“Because you have rejected knowledge,
I also reject you as my priests;
because you have ignored the law of your God,
I also will ignore your children.
7 The more priests there were,
the more they sinned against me;
they exchanged their glorious God[a] for something disgraceful.
People have not changed from the beginning. They still want to blame someone else for their sin. They point a finger to get the attention off themselves instead of simply taking responsibility for their actions. I have often wondered what would of happened if Adam would have faced up to his actions and said "God I am sorry, I was wrong, please forgive me." How fast would we have gotten this taken care of? No, man still does not want to say I am at fault and as a result we sit in our sin and mess. People want to ignore God's word. They want to be free of the curse of sin, but don’t want to get the sin out. That would mean being obedient to God and making Him Lord of our lives. Let’s take healing as an example. Just one of the many things Jesus provided at the cross. Healing comes when faith is present, but people don’t understand what faith is. Faith is believing God exists, He is able to do all things, and He will do it for you, but it is also obeying Him. They don’t want to put feet to their faith and simply obey His word Jesus. It takes faith to trust someone and obey what they say. I want healed, I want more faith, but I want it on my terms. No obedience, no Glory. We have no understanding and knowledge, because sin make us stupid and blinds our eyes to truth. Knowledge and understanding start at repentance.
