Numbers 25:10-13 (NIV) 10 The Lord said to Moses, 11 “Phinehas son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, the priest, has turned my anger away from the Israelites. Since he was as zealous for my honor among them as I am, I did not put an end to them in my zeal. 12 Therefore tell him I am making my covenant of peace with him. 13 He and his descendants will have a covenant of a lasting priesthood, because he was zealous for the honor of his God and made atonement for the Israelites.”
John 2:13-19 (NIV) 13 When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14 In the temple courts he found people selling cattle, sheep and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money. 15 So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple courts, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. 16 To those who sold doves he said, “Get these out of here! Stop turning my Father’s house into a market!” 17 His disciples remembered that it is written: “Zeal for your house will consume me.” 18 The Jews then responded to him, “What sign can you show us to prove your authority to do all this?” 19 Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.”
Phinehas was zealous for God’s honor and getting the sin out of His presence by driving a spear through the Israelite and the Midianite woman while they were committing fornication. They were unequally yoked. A child of God and a child of the world in the act. God honors him for honoring God for getting the sin out of His presence. Jesus was willing to destroy His own body by becoming sin for us and going to death on the cross and putting sin to death. Jesus was consumed with zeal to get the sin out of God’s presence. Now I ask? Why can’t pastors and evangelists preach against sin today? Where is their zeal for God’s house and we are that house. I think more are satisfied with their own comfort than the persecution that comes with a righteous life. Pad the pocket book while sending people to hell. How cruel can you get? Where is the honor due God? It is time to drive a spear through sin in the church. “Oh brother you might offend somebody.” Better to offend man than God. Better to hurt their feelings now than an eternity burning in hell.

Judges 6:12-14 (KJV)
12 And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him, and said unto him, The Lord is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.
13 And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the Lord be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt? but now the Lord hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.
14 And the Lord looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee?
God told me here is a man of faith and vision. I had never thought of Gideon as a man of faith and vision. I thought he was a coward. He was a realest. He understood he could not defeat his enemies, so he was in hiding at the wine press trying to thresh wheat. Smart man. He figured his enemies would not expect him to be threshing wheat at the wine press. He knew he could not overcome his enemies, so he tried to outsmart them. The angel of the Lord calls him a mighty man of valor. A brave man. His statement of faith was if God is for us why are we in this mess or I know we would not be in this mess if God was with us. Hebrews 11:6 says “6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Gideon believed that God would reward or deliver them if God was with them. He did not realize that God was with them. When He knew God he understood that God was with them. God then did the impossible though Gideon and completely overcame His enemies. He had a vision of who God is. He understood and knew God’s character. Gideon was not satisfied with the way things were, but wanted the fullness of what God had for them. God never wanted them in that circumstance. Someone had to know God and understand what God wanted for their lives and then release God’s will on earth. God is looking for a man to stand in the gap on behalf of the people. Don’t settle and be satisfied with what life has given you, seek what God wants for you.

Proverbs 29:18 (AMP) 18 Where there is no vision [no revelation of God and His word], the people are unrestrained;
But happy and blessed is he who keeps the law [of God].
John 1:1 (KJV) 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
To know God is to know His Word or know the Word. I know many people who know about God. They study His Word and are satisfied with knowing about Him, but do they know Him? Relationships are messy. They take time. They expose who and what we are to others. They can be dangerous and we are scared to let others know us. We want the benefits of a relationship, but not the honesty. No honesty, no lasting benefits. They can expose us to ridicule and pain. The person we are in relationship with is entrusted with our secrets and they are given power over us. Scary don’t you think? We can only know them to the extent we are honest, forth coming, and true to them. Once we are open and trusting they can become open and trusting to us or destroy us. Scarier. Sin hides us from the other person. It causes us to cover up and look at ourselves instead of knowing others we become more self-conscious instead of other conscious. We put on the fig leaves. How much of God do you want? Look into the mirror of His Word, see who you are. Give yourself fully to Him. He knows anyway. See God, have a vision of God, and know Him. Start with reading His Word, but don’t stop there. Seek Him with all your heart and you will find Him. You will also discover who you really are not who you been lying about. When you understand His Word you will happy, because you live in the confines of His presences. Do you have a passion for God?

2 Kings 13:17-19 (NIV)
17 “Open the east window,” he said, and he opened it. “Shoot!” Elisha said, and he shot. “The Lord’s arrow of victory, the arrow of victory over Aram!” Elisha declared. “You will completely destroy the Arameans at Aphek.” 18 Then he said, “Take the arrows,” and the king took them. Elisha told him, “Strike the ground.” He struck it three times and stopped. 19 The man of God was angry with him and said, “You should have struck the ground five or six times; then you would have defeated Aram and completely destroyed it. But now you will defeat it only three times.”
Passion for the things of God, where is it? God wanted to deliver Israel completely but they were satisfied with little. I have become disturbed with the lack of passion for the things of God. Churches seemed satisfied with so little. Even if there is some passion it is to build a dynasty for man, a monument for himself. Monuments are dead not living. They blow away with time, but God is forever. They have little vision for the things of God. They take examples from the past and try to emulate them. They copy each other’s “successes” as though they were doing God’s work. Abraham knew the Lord as a friend knows a friend. I see pastors who hardly know God or His word. They try to take shortcuts to the top not knowing that God will say “I never knew you.” You Pastors never knew Him. It takes time to build a relationship. Quit worrying about what you look like to the world and start being concern for how God views you. Seek Him first and He will lift you up. Anything else is simple dust in the wind.
