Devo Walking in faith Part 31
Isaiah 35 (NIV)
35 The desert and the parched land will be glad;
the wilderness will rejoice and blossom.
Like the crocus, 2 it will burst into bloom;
it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy.
The glory of Lebanon will be given to it,
the splendor of Carmel and Sharon;
they will see the glory of the Lord,
the splendor of our God.
3 Strengthen the feeble hands,
steady the knees that give way;
4 say to those with fearful hearts,
“Be strong, do not fear;
your God will come,
he will come with vengeance;
with divine retribution
he will come to save you.”
5 Then will the eyes of the blind be opened
and the ears of the deaf unstopped.
6 Then will the lame leap like a deer,
and the mute tongue shout for joy.
Water will gush forth in the wilderness
and streams in the desert.
7 The burning sand will become a pool,
the thirsty ground bubbling springs.
In the haunts where jackals once lay,
grass and reeds and papyrus will grow.
8 And a highway will be there;
it will be called the Way of Holiness;
it will be for those who walk on that Way.
The unclean will not journey on it;
wicked fools will not go about on it.
9 No lion will be there,
nor any ravenous beast;
they will not be found there.
But only the redeemed will walk there,
10 and those the Lord has rescued will return.
They will enter Zion with singing;
everlasting joy will crown their heads.
Gladness and joy will overtake them,
and sorrow and sighing will flee away.
Highways are called highways because they are built above the rest of the landscape. They are higher and keep the water, animals off, and made so you can see what’s ahead. The highway of God’s holiness is a road less traveled, but is a safe place where sickness, Satan, and the enemy can’t travel. It is the way of the believer. It is the way through the valley of death, while those off the road see death and destruction those on the road see the desert bloom. There is no fear there for it is the way of peace and safety. We see what’s ahead and we have no fear of tomorrow. Though it is a narrow road there is always room for more. It is a place of singing and joy. How do we get on the highway? Through the blood of Jesus. How do we stay on the highway? Through following Him and obeying His commandments. Walking in His holiness not ours.

Devo Walking in the spirit Part 30
5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. 7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8 Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.
9 You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. 10 But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness. 11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.
Paul says when I am the weakest I am the strongest. What does he mean? The more this flesh dies and is put under the more I lean on Jesus and the Spirit. Why do you think we fast? Why do little old ladies have such power in prayer? As I recently told one elderly lady: “You are in your prime spiritually.” How do we know we are beginning to walk more in the Spirit? It gives life to our mortal bodies. We start overcoming in the flesh in every way. Want to walk in the Spirit? Get filled with the Spirit. Wash daily in the word of God. Renew your mind in the word for faith comes by hearing, but this is the anointed preached word. Fast often. Put on the armor of God. The most important is to pray without ceasing. Prayer is the fight, the rest is a formality. Stay in constant contact with God. Satan’s power is sin. Our battle is more within than without if Satan can keep you distracted with him and the things of this world he’s got you. Get your eyes on Jesus and get the sin out.

Walking in the Spirit part 29
Romans 7:24-8:4 (NIV)
24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!
So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.
8 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, 4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
Jesus rescues us from the law of sin and death. He died for us so He might be the firstborn of many brethren. We got in this mess through the first man Adam and out through the man Jesus Christ. We die to the first man and are born again through Jesus. He set me free from the curse of the first man, so I died to my sin nature and flesh and came alive to the Spirit nature. God told Adam that if he ate of the tree dying spiritually he would die physically, but through the cross coming alive spiritually we live physically. Jesus paid it all at the cross. The last thing to be put under His feet is death, but we are given deposits or victories reminding us death will be put under His feet and ours, and we will have a resurrected body. A sinless glorified body that will not know sickness or the grave for he did it for us. He set us free from the old man and sin so we might by faith walk in His Spirit. He released us from the hold of sin. We don’t look back, but forward for I am save, I am being saved and I shall be saved. I am a child born again and must learn to walk in His Spirit. I feel we have gone full circle, but how do I walk in the Spirit?

Devo Walking in the Spirit Part 28
Romans 7:14-24 (NIV)
14 We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. 15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
21 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23 but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death?
We are born with a sin nature. We take after our dad, Adam or Satan. He is our father. I know this is upsetting some, but hold on. As long as I am under the sin nature I am a slave to it. I can’t do the good I want to. Sin rules in my life. I need help. Like an Alcoholic I can’t control myself only worse. I sin and don’t want to. Now that was depressing, but I need to know this to get help. You can’t help an Alcoholic till he realizes he needs help and has a problem, nor can you a sinner. Who will save me?

Devo Walking in the Spirit Part 26
Romans 7:1-6 (NIV) 7 Do you not know, brothers and sisters—for I am speaking to those who know the law—that the law has authority over someone only as long as that person lives? 2 For example, by law a married woman is bound to her husband as long as he is alive, but if her husband dies, she is released from the law that binds her to him. 3 So then, if she has sexual relations with another man while her husband is still alive, she is called an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is released from that law and is not an adulteress if she marries another man. 4 So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God. 5 For when we were in the realm of the flesh, the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in us, so that we bore fruit for death. 6 But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.
Please stick with me for a few devotions to get the fullness of this message. This is very important to overcoming sin that so easily besets us. Paul does a wonderful job in showing us how God unbound us from sin and the Old Covenant. Marriage is a covenant with God. You see in marriage we are in a covenant with God bound by our word to stay together till death do us part. Marriage is not a contract in which either party can change their mind and break the deal. A covenant has three parties: a man, a woman and God. The man and woman make a covenant or agreement with God to be married till death do them part. God is not a man that He should change His mind, so only through death of one in the agreement can a covenant be broken. As Paul says “He who is dead is dead to sin”. Now if I die I am no longer bound by this covenant or agreement. Jesus was God and man, he died on that cross to set us free from the curse of the law. I can’t live up to the expectations of that covenant therefore I am under the curse of it. He set me free from the law of sin and death. I died with Him and was baptized to show or testify to others that I go down under the water or in the grave with Him that I would be set free from the law of sin and death. It is by faith and His spirit. I am no longer bound by the curse of the law but to the blessing of it. (To be continued)

Devo In the Spirit or not
Galatians 5:16-21 (NIV)
16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever[a] you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
I often have people tell me that I am a legalist or under the law. It always amazes me how I see the church use a false doctrine of ‘once saved always saved’ as it is being taught as a license to live in blatant sin. New Testament or Old we are taught not to sin morally, and for these self-proclaimed teachers to teach such a heresy they forget to teach all of God’s word. It clearly states we are not to live in sin and if we do we will not inherit the Kingdom of God. One of these things Paul talks about is sexual immorality. Yet I see churches condone living together. And, believe it or not, sleeping with a prostitute as acceptable behavior for the believer. I like what a pastor friend of mine who used to be second in command as the head witch in the state of New York said. She went out after church with the pastor and church leadership to eat. They were all ordering alcoholic drinks and asked her what she wanted. She wanted no part of them she told them “this is what Jesus took me out of and I will not return to it,” and walked out. Without holiness we will not see God. Let me ask you something, if I shot and killed someone from the pulpit would I be accepted by my church or the world as a man of God? Do you think God is able to make a right judgement? We are not under the Old Covenant law of sacrificing, but we are to live by the moral law. If we fail we can return to the cross, but we are not to live in blatant, intentional sin, or we will not inherent the Kingdom of God. Pastor Jeff Lane
Devo Not by might
Romans 8:11 (NIV)
11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of[a] his Spirit who lives in you.
This is an incredibly powerful verse. We tend to forget that Jesus was a man and that he did indeed bleed and die, but the Holy Spirit raised Him back to life. Abraham offered his son Isaac on an altar to God and reason that God would raise him from the dead. He knew that the Spirit of God could raise him up since he was a child of promise. We also are children of a promise, therefore can reason that the Spirit of God will also raise us from sickness to life. Elisha died and was in the grave when they threw a man’s body in his grave and he rose from the dead. Now if Elisha’s bones, which had the Spirit of God come and go in his life, but not remaining as it did in Jesus’s life and ours (John 1:32), had enough residue of that Spirit to raise a dead man ; then how much more so if the living Spirit is on us.
