Devo License to sin or be set free from sin
Romans 8:3-4 (NIV) 3 For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, 4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
Romans 8:12-13 (NIV) 12 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. 13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.
I hear so many people talking about legalism and living under the law. They use scripture as a license to sin. They take a few select scriptures and make a false doctrine out of it. Paul spent much of his ministry countering such false claims of freedom to sin. On the contrary he taught that Jesus came to give us the Spirit not to live under sin, but to help us rise above it and put it to death. Why would someone want to return to that which enslaved and bound them? Dogs return to their vomit, but Christ did not die to make us dogs. The Spirit was given to empower you to overcome sin, therefore by overcoming the curse of the law and coming into the blessings of God.
