Devo Prosperity Part 15
Genesis 22:1-3 (KJV)
22 And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.
2 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.
3 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.
Genesis 22:13-14 (KJV)
13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah Jireh: as it is said to this day, in the mount of the Lord it shall be seen.
Once again we see Abraham giving God everything. God asks for his son and Abraham gets up early the next morning. He gets right to it. He does not hesitate, wait, or questions. He just does it. Now we use a verse a lot and it is ‘God gives us the seed and the bread’. God stops Abraham from sacrificing his son, but provides a ram to sacrifice to Him. God give us the seed to plant so we will be blessed. Think about it. He gives us the wood, fire, and altar too. What a God we serve. God gave us Jesus His son. We paid nothing. When you get down to it being blessed is more about obedience than sacrifices. He paid it all. Let’s now look at Cain and Abel in the next lesson.
