Devo Prosperity Part 7
Matthew 20:25-30 (NIV)
25 Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. 26 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 27 and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
29 As Jesus and his disciples were leaving Jericho, a large crowd followed him. 30 Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was going by, they shouted, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”
James 1:9-12 (NIV)
9 Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position. 10 But the rich should take pride in their humiliation—since they will pass away like a wild flower. 11 For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed. In the same way, the rich will fade away even while they go about their business.
12 Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
Jesus didn’t come to be serve, but to serve us. He is our example. Now if anyone should have been served of course it would have been Christ and yet He gave up all for us and then was exalted to the right hand of God. Keep in mind He was there before He came to earth, but returned there as a man so you and I could be heirs with Him. A man must lose his life to find it. Can you be trusted with true riches? I think this was no accident that these blind men were here. Jesus asked what do you want and they said we want to see. He healed them. What do you want? Do want to see or be blinded by the deceitfulness of this world’s wealth? Paul, Samson, and others could not see till they were blind. What position do you want? Jesus came in a manger, but Caesar came to a throne. Who has eternal things and who is withered? Be careful what you ask for you may get it? I am not saying God wants us poor. I am saying God wants us to prosper and be in good health. He gives good gifts. He gives them when we are ready.
