Devo How to avoid temptation part 1
Matthew 6:9-13 (NIV)
9 “This, then, is how you should pray:
“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
One of the questions people ask me is how to avoid temptation. Simple, ask God each day to help you to not be led into it. Best start for your day. I find people tend to forget to start the day without praying what is in the Lord’s prayer. It was given to us for a reason; to keep us happy and out of trouble.

Devo False preachers
Ezekiel 13:6-9 (NIV)
6 Their visions are false and their divinations a lie. Even though the Lord has not sent them, they say, “The Lord declares,” and expect him to fulfill their words. 7 Have you not seen false visions and uttered lying divinations when you say, “The Lord declares,” though I have not spoken?
8 “‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: Because of your false words and lying visions, I am against you, declares the Sovereign Lord. 9 My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and utter lying divinations. They will not belong to the council of my people or be listed in the records of Israel, nor will they enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Sovereign Lord.
There are those who claim to have revelation from God. They preach once you’re saved you can live like the devil and still be saved. They use the grace of God as a license to sin. Some even teach that you don’t need to repent to be saved. Still others teach that there are many ways to God and we all have to find our own way. Lies and more lies. There is only one way to the Father and that is through Jesus. (John 14:6) They will never inherit the Kingdom of God, neither will the sexually immoral, idolater, slanderer, gossip, greedy, swindler, drunkard, and all who live in open rebellion towards God. It would be better if these false prophets had never been born than to lead others astray.

Devo Are you ready for battle?
Ezekiel 13:1-5 (NIV)
13 The word of the Lord came to me: 2 “Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who are now prophesying. Say to those who prophesy out of their own imagination: ‘Hear the word of the Lord! 3 This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Woe to the foolish[a] prophets who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing! 4 Your prophets, Israel, are like jackals among ruins. 5 You have not gone up to the breaches in the wall to repair it for the people of Israel so that it will stand firm in the battle on the day of the Lord.
God is looking for a man who would go up and preach the truth and repair the temple and you are that temple. We have self-proclaimed preachers ordained by man who would teach all is well when disaster is at hand. If the church does not turn from its wicked ways, pray, and seek God He will judge her. Now if man is against you it could be a problem, if Satan is against you it is worse, but if God is against you who will stand for you? Listen, if you’re not living under grace you’re in sin and there is only a fearful expectation of the judgement of God. Jesus came to set us free from sin not give us a license to live in it. Where are the prophets who would repair the walls that protect the church? Listen again if we are not safe behind broken walls how will we do battle against our enemy?

Devo My people parish for a lack of understanding
Ezekiel 22:30-31 (NIV)
30 “I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one. 31 So I will pour out my wrath on them and consume them with my fiery anger, bringing down on their own heads all they have done, declares the Sovereign Lord.”
Most the church is clueless about intercession. They talk about fighting Satan, but have no clue that the church has made God their enemy. The church lives in open sin and rebellion against God and His laws. They blame God for their condition in life and complain against Him. Yes I know that Jesus died for our sin, but expects us to live in the fullness of what He has done for us and leave our sin behind. Sin in our life is the cause of our condition. God is looking for a person to who would stand between Him and man to stop Him from destroying us. You might say well pastor he found that in Christ didn’t He?
Numbers 16:46-48(NIV)46 Then Moses said to Aaron, “Take your censer and put incense in it, along with burning coals from the altar, and hurry to the assembly to make atonement for them. Wrath has come out from the Lord; the plague has started.” 47 So Aaron did as Moses said, and ran into the midst of the assembly. The plague had already started among the people, but Aaron offered the incense and made atonement for them. 48 He stood between the living and the dead, and the plague stopped.
There still has to be one who will pray on behalf of the people. One who will preach the Word. One who will stand between the living and the dead. Jacob wrestled with God on behalf of his family not Satan. That censer represented prayer. Arron was making atonement for the assembly who were in rebellion against God’s will not fighting Satan. I am not discounting our fight against Satan, but sin, or in other words rebellion, is the problem we have with God.

Devo You’ve only just begun
Jeremiah 12:5-6 (NIV)
5 “If you have raced with men on foot
and they have worn you out,
how can you compete with horses?
If you stumble[a] in safe country,
how will you manage in the thickets by[b] the Jordan?
6 Your relatives, members of your own family--
even they have betrayed you;
they have raised a loud cry against you.
Do not trust them,
though they speak well of you.
Jerimiah was raising his complaint against the Lord. He could not understand why God had not punished the wicked nor why God was disciplining him so harshly. This was God’s reply. Things are going to get worse not better and I am preparing you for that day. It is because I have compassion for you and love you that I discipline the son I love. Jerimiah was being persecuted by the religious establishment and priests. God tells him it will get worse if you can’t race with men how will you compete with horses? Jeremiah do you have what it takes to fulfill the calling? Your own people and family will betray you will you trust me? You will even doubt yourself, so I am tempering you for that day. Trust me and know me, lean on me, because I will judge my church first and turn their hearts back to me, but great will be their judgement. I will turn my back on them for a time. See verse eight in this chapter , “they will roar at God and he will hate them”. Wow! And yet His heart will turn back to them and have compassion on them. Trust the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding and He will lift you up.
