Devo Planted Part five
Genesis 2:5 (KJV)
5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.
Amos 4:7 (NIV)
7 “I also withheld rain from you
when the harvest was still three months away.
I sent rain on one town,
but withheld it from another.
One field had rain;
another had none and dried up.
Zechariah 10:1 (NIV)
10 Ask the Lord for rain in the springtime;
it is the Lord who sends the thunderstorms.
He gives showers of rain to all people,
and plants of the field to everyone.
Environment has everything to do with potential. You can have good soil and seed but you have to have water. It is God who sends the rain. He releases the potential of the seed. Little rain, little harvest, too much and the plant dies, but just right and the full potential of the seed is released. God determines this part of the equation. Grace, grace, grace. The best soil and the
best seed without God watering it produces nothing. God must bless it. Think about it.

Matthew 12:34 (KJV)
34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
Before we go on please don’t forget you are soil too. What are you allowing to be planted in your heart? For what’s in a man’s heart comes out. What are you doing to nurture that seed?

Luke 8:5-8 (NIV)
5 “A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the birds ate it up. 6 Some fell on rocky ground, and when it came up, the plants withered because they had no moisture. 7 Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up with it and choked the plants. 8 Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown.”
When he said this, he called out, “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”
Does it matter where a seed is planted? You bet it does. I grew up in Illinois and they said the ground there in places could produce anywhere from two hundred to three hundred bushel of wheat. Later I lived in Tennessee and they told me where we were at they could only get forty bushel of wheat. In fact they called me a liar when I told them back home what the ground produced. Same seed, same potential. What made the difference? The ground or the lack of understanding in knowing where to plant? Keep planting in bad soil because you don’t believe there is better soil and you will get the same results. Where do you plant your seed? Listen this is not only true of seed but, money, time, our words, God’s word and yes people too. Where you grow up, go to school. Yes environment unleashes potential.
I had a friend who planted a church in an area that had three towns. He went to the first town and started a church, but it never did much, but because of circumstances he move to the next town and got the same results. He had to move to the third town because of circumstances again, but this time the church took off and grew like crazy. What made the difference he asked? I did all the same things, preached the same messages, and made no changes to those messages. Good soil. Open hearts was the answer. We all have been given good seed. Where will you plant yours?

John 12:24 (NIV)
24 Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.
As long as the seed remains in the host its potential is never realized. It remains a single seed. All it does is feed, take from its mother so to speak. It takes and never produces anything. It must die to its host fall to the ground. Be humbled in the dirt and die. Yes a seed literally dies. Then something happens that we don’t understand. It begins to grow in the ground with water and sunlight it lives again. It does not live for itself but to give life. It becomes a giver. It produces life. It does this in accordance with where it was planted. Its potential is released, but in accordance with its environment. Think about it.

Genesis 1:11-12 (NIV)
11 Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so. 12 The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.
It is a basic principle, but many “great minds” have tried to disprove it and yet a child knows it. Kind produces after kind. What potential that is in the seed will only be what that seed produces.
Plant an apple seed get an apple. Plant an orange seed get an orange. The second part is it must be planted to produce. Seeds can have all the potential to become something, but unless planted they produce nothing. It has to leave the plant and fall to the ground before it produces. Just think on that.
