1 John 5:13-14 (NIV) 14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.
How does one know the will of God? He put it in a book, the Bible. “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word.” When we stay in His word our faith builds and He reveals His will to us. What we ask must be in line with His word or we ask in vain. It is then we will see substance to our faith. Pastor Jeff Lane

Hebrews 12:4-13 (NIV)
4 In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. 5 And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says,
“My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline,
and do not lose heart when he rebukes you,
6 because the Lord disciplines the one he loves,
and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.”
7 Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father? 8 If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all. 9 Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live! 10 They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness. 11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. 12 Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. 13 “Make level paths for your feet,” so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed.
How does he mold us? He does it with discipline. It not always fun. My father disciplined me as a child molding me into the man he wanted me to be. Now I thank my father for many things but this act of love I failed to thank him for and yet it was the greatest gift he gave me. God does everything out of love. I in no way believe God puts sickness on us as Christians to discipline us. My earthly father would not have, nor do I believe my heavenly Father would or will. He sent His son to take away this curse why would he turn around and put it on us. No, sickness and plagues are reserved for the lost but we are His children. Satan puts sickness on us. We are given provision to overcome it. God uses circumstances. Many people instead of submitting to His will try to get out of some of these circumstances. Learn and move on don’t just try to get out of them. Paul when sent to Jerusalem then to Rome knew full well what he would endure, but in full submission went anyhow to show God’s glory and many were and still are being saved. Make level paths for your feet so you have good footing by obeying His moral law.

Jeremiah 18:1-4 (NIV)
18 This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: 2 “Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give you my message.” 3 So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel. 4 But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him.
Isaiah 29:16 (NIV)
16 You turn things upside down,
as if the potter were thought to be like the clay!
Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it,
“You did not make me”?
Can the pot say to the potter,
“You know nothing”?
Psalm 139:13-16 (NIV)
13 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
This seems clear to me, but God has a plan for us and we must find that plan. He started by how we are formed in our mother’s womb, but it does not stop there. We must submit to His plan not ours. He knows best and we need to submit to Him to be fulfilled. He is still forming us and shaping us for His plan, but how you might ask? Stay tuned.

Romans 8:26-27 (NIV)
26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
Do you want to stay in love? Then you need to get more of the one you love. I find many Christians get satisfied with their relationship with God. Satisfaction is the death of a relationship. When we are young we continue to grow, but when we stop growing we are on a downward slide. We are dying slowly. We don’t see it at first, but as time goes on things just don’t work like they used to. Our body begins to hurt and starts falling apart. I know, thank you captain obvious. Same with relationships we should want more of God. Our relationship should be ever growing. Don’t be satisfied with just salvation there is so much more to have. Seek the baptism of the Holy Spirit with all that goes with it. Tongues? Yes. Listen if you speak your lovers language you know them better. Don’t be satisfied with the baptism. There is so much more to God. The above verse says with “wordless groans” that is a poor translation it should say with words no one can understand. I have been married 36 years and know by some that this is just a start, but we have our own language we communicate in. Our kids don’t even know. We have a level of intimacy that only we understand. I read a study that says there is intimacy in marriage that can only be obtained through time and fidelity that many will never know in life. It is true. Submit to God and He will lift you up to a higher plane. The more I know Him the more I want Him. The more I want Him the more He comes to me. Draw closer to God and He will draw closer to you. Talk His language and He will hear you. He will lead you in His will, but you must submit to Him. Give yourself to Him. He loves you and will do what is best for you, but to trust on this level there must be intimacy in your relationship. You must know him. Why do people fight The Holy Spirit and tongues? They simply don’t know or trust Him on this plane.

Devo Walking in faith Part 22
Romans 8:1-17 (NIV) 8 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, 4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. 7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8 Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God. 9 You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. 10 But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness. 11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you. 12 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. 13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live. 14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. 15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
I underlined one word submit. Why to what? God’s law. I thought we weren’t under the law so some would teach, but it plainly says law. This is not the sacrificial law, but moral law. We have an obligation to live moral lives through Jesus. He gave us His Spirit so we might do so. I often say faith is more about obedience than just believing. Demon’s believe and shudder. We are called to walk in the Spirit, but how? Let’s take a look at that. First if you can obey His moral law you can be trusted with His direction for your life. Second we are to walk in God’s love which leads to obedience. Example is as follows. Two people fall in love. When in love they have no problem with fidelity. They stay loyal to one another and don’t look at others, but when they start floating apart. The relationship becomes less about pleasing their partner and becomes more about pleasing themselves. How do we stay in love? It takes a conscious effort. Never stop spending time together. It been said absence makes the heart grow fonder no it makes it wonder. Stay in His word never stop learning about Him. Stay in communication with Him never stop praying. Keep your eyes on Him never look away. One last thing if you’re too busy, you are too busy.
