Devo Authority for the child of God part 10
2 Peter 1:19-21 (NIV)
19 We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. 20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
Authority is simply carrying along orders. It is to do the will of the one who gives authority. You speak His word and you are to be obeyed. It is not your job to see that it is fulfilled, that is the master’s job. If you are not obeyed then He sees to it that the orders are obeyed. He sends His army or Holy Spirit to carry it out. Authority is not to push your will along, but God’s will. Romans 10:15 tells us we must be sent. You must be chosen to have authority. When the Holy Spirit comes on us we are sent or commissioned. The disciples were told don’t leave Jerusalem until the Holy Spirit comes on you and fills you with power. It is, and always has been, the Holy Spirit that brings the message of God to us. Jesus did not start His ministry until the Holy Spirit came on Him. (John 1:32) How can you speak the will of the master without communication to Him? We must know His will to speak His will. No one knows the will of a person unless he knows his spirit. (1 Corinthians 2:11) We must have the Spirit of God to know the thoughts of God and carry out His will.
