Devo Faith or bad confession Part 3
Jeremiah 45 (NIV)
45 When Baruch son of Neriah wrote on a scroll the words Jeremiah the prophet dictated in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, Jeremiah said this to Baruch: 2 “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says to you, Baruch: 3 You said, ‘Woe to me! The Lord has added sorrow to my pain; I am worn out with groaning and find no rest.’ 4 But the Lord has told me to say to you, ‘This is what the Lord says: I will overthrow what I have built and uproot what I have planted, throughout the earth. 5 Should you then seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them. For I will bring disaster on all people, declares the Lord, but wherever you go I will let you escape with your life.’”
Baruch was Jeremiah’s scribe. He risked his life again and again to take Jeremiah’s words or God’s word to the king and people. He lost everything. He was thinking that God was going to give him a great reward for doing his duty and serving God. God simply says you get to live Baruch. You won’t be rich or famous. You simply get to live. That was more than most Jews of that day got. Stop your groaning and live. As my little wise granddaughter tells everyone just ‘let it go’. Many would lose their faith over that. What do I get? You got to serve, that is your reward.

Devo Faith or bad confession Part 2
Hebrews 11:39-40 (NIV)
39 These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised, 40 since God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect.
All these great men spoken of in Hebrews were commended for great faith and yet not one received the promise of God in this life. Maybe they should have changed their confession? I think not, maybe we should walk in their faith. They weren’t moved by what they saw in this life, but what they could see coming in the next. They were not wrapped up in the things of this world including their own lives. They trusted God for something better. None of them left God because of losing land, homes loved ones, beatings, furnaces, lions, and more. They simply walked by faith. They prayed Lord your will be done, not mine, and trusted Him.
