Devo Will I find Faith Part 23
Matthew 10:1 (NIV)
10 Jesus called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out impure spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.
Luke 10:1-9 (NIV)
10 After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. 2 He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. 3 Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. 4 Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road.
5 “When you enter a house, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ 6 If someone who promotes peace is there, your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you. 7 Stay there, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house to house.
8 “When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is offered to you. 9 Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’
Mark 16:14-20 (NIV)
14 Later Jesus appeared to the Eleven as they were eating; he rebuked them for their lack of faith and their stubborn refusal to believe those who had seen him after he had risen.
15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”
19 After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God. 20 Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.
Jesus gave His authority to others and still is!

Matthew 7:28-29 (NIV)
28 When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, 29 because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.
Matthew 9:4-8 (NIV)
4 Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said, “Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts? 5 Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? 6 But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the paralyzed man, “Get up, take your mat and go home.” 7 Then the man got up and went home. 8 When the crowd saw this, they were filled with awe; and they praised God, who had given such authority to man.
Matthew 21:23-27 (NIV)
23 Jesus entered the temple courts, and, while he was teaching, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him. “By what authority are you doing these things?” they asked. “And who gave you this authority?”
24 Jesus replied, “I will also ask you one question. If you answer me, I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things. 25 John’s baptism—where did it come from? Was it from heaven, or of human origin?”
They discussed it among themselves and said, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will ask, ‘Then why didn’t you believe him?’ 26 But if we say, ‘Of human origin’—we are afraid of the people, for they all hold that John was a prophet.”
27 So they answered Jesus, “We don’t know.”
Then he said, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.
Jesus spoke and acted as one who had authority and people recognized it. The teachers of the law didn’t deny He had authority they question where it came from.

Luke 4:6 (NIV)
6 And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to.
Satan said this to Jesus while in the wilderness and Jesus didn’t deny it. There are some who are always trying to deny reality. Some say I am just not going to speak it, but that doesn’t make it so. It could get you killed. God spoke things that are ‘not’ as if they were, not that ‘are’ as if they were not. These people don’t understand authority and Satan is not scared or moved by them. They don’t get faith and obedience. They don’t understand they are to speak to the mountain and it will be removed not deny it’s there. Jesus simply spoke the word to Satan and simply continued to answer to and obey God. Jesus left the wilderness in the power of the Holy Spirit, spoke with authority and sickness and demons obeyed Him. Luke 4:14. We must obey God and master sin and everything will bow at our feet. How did we lose dominion? We disobeyed and sinned. Jesus provided a way back for us.

Matthew 8:5-13 (NIV)
5 When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help. 6 “Lord,” he said, “my servant lies at home paralyzed, suffering terribly.”
7 Jesus said to him, “Shall I come and heal him?”
8 The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. 9 For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
10 When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, “Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith. 11 I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. 12 But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! Let it be done just as you believed it would.” And his servant was healed at that moment.
How is it this Roman centurion gets it and the people of God don’t? You obey and you have authority. You must humble yourself to your superiors, trust them, be loyal to them and they can trust you with authority. Seems simple but people don’t want to humble themselves and turn to God and obey. They want authority without responsibility. Not going to happen. Listen to what the Centurion said.

Genesis 4:2-7 (NIV)
2 Later she gave birth to his brother Abel.
Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil. 3 In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the Lord. 4 And Abel also brought an offering—fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The Lord looked with favor on Abel and his offering, 5 but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast.
6 Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”
God told Cain that he must master sin. How could we tell sin was crouching at Cain’s door? Simple he did not give God his best. He wanted it for himself. He had a form of Godliness but deigned the power and lost it. He did not trust and obey God and as a result sin to over and he murdered his brother. He became a slave to sin. Wow! Think about it. If Cain had faith and obeyed God his brother would be alive. He rebelled against God and sin took over. People it is a slow fade. People stop or never start tithing, (usually first thing to go making excuses and justifying) stop reading the Bible (too busy can’t understand), stop praying, stop going to church and so on. They always make excuses, blame others and justify. Then one day they all out rebel against God and lose their dominion. They can’t rule because they have no authority. They have no authority because they can’t obey. Faith is obeying God. I don’t know how to make it simpler.

Genesis 3:6-10 (NIV)
6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.
8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”
10 He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”
How did we lose our position of dominion? Simply put we rebelled against God’s authority and sinned. We wanted to be God. Why did we hide from God? We hide because of an unhealthy fear. We fear Him because we still want to be in charge and be God. Adam didn’t repent he made excuses trying to hide his rebellion. If you want to have authority and dominion you have to submit to authority. A sergeant only has authority because he obeys those above him and is given authority if he stops obeying he loses his authority. Think about it and let’s move on.
