Devo Give God the praise due Him
1 Kings 12:27-30 (KJV)
27 If this people go up to do sacrifice in the house of the Lord at Jerusalem, then shall the heart of this people turn again unto their lord, even unto Rehoboam king of Judah, and they shall kill me, and go again to Rehoboam king of Judah.
28 Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold, and said unto them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
29 And he set the one in Bethel, and the other put he in Dan.
30 And this thing became a sin: for the people went to worship before the one, even unto Dan.
God of course was the one who brought the Israelites out of Egypt and set them free from their Giving slavery. Now King Rehoboam was trying to save his own skin because he feared the people more than God. The people gave glory to false gods from what God did for them. God does not share His glory. I see people giving Glory to others for what God has done. Be careful to give God all the glory for all he has done in your life. Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. glory to others for God’s work is a sin. Many will not give Him the glory for healing them and so insight His anger against them. Jesus healed people and said go and sin no more.

Devo Talking against God and His anointed
Numbers 21:4-9 (KJV)
4 And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the Red sea, to compass the land of Edom: and the soul of the people was much discouraged because of the way.
5 And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.
6 And the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
7 Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord, and against thee; pray unto the Lord, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.
8 And the Lord said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.
9 And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.
The people began talking against God and His anointed man. They had become discouraged in their journey. We become discouraged as we travel through life. Sometimes some of us think it would have been better to have never been born, but then we would not have known Him. Life can be hard and unpleasant at times, but as we trust Him we can see Him. Without faith it is impossible to see God. They complained about God’s provision for them. God hates complaining so be careful and be content with what you have. When we complain against the man of God we complain against God’s Spirit. He is just the messenger. They asked God to take the snakes away, but He didn’t. He provided a way out. God does not always take away the circumstances, but He will provide a way out through faith in Him. Lift up your eyes to Him. Asking God to take away the snakes was the wrong request, instead they should have stopped sinning. Jesus came to take away the sin of the world not the circumstance until we go to be with Him. If the sin is gone so will be the consequence. Remember Paul was bitten by the snake with no effect. God does not take us out of the world but helps us to overcome it. I think if God would have removed the snakes the complaining would have continued.

Devo Gods word part 2
Hosea 4:6 (NIV)
6 my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.
“Because you have rejected knowledge,
I also reject you as my priests;
because you have ignored the law of your God,
I also will ignore your children.
This word knowledge means more than having information. It is to have information with a personal understanding of what it means. The problem with the people of that day and this is a lack of not only knowing scripture, but knowing the author and His intent, who He is and what He was saying. You have to know the Word to understand the Word. You must know Jesus, not just about Jesus. Many people think they know my wife, but they know about my wife. I know my wife and it disturbs me if people who think they know her say something as fact about her that is not true. It is the same with God. People who think they know Him say many thing that are not true about Him, such as He causes people to starve in Africa. That was man’s choice when he decided to live out from under the presence of God and His blessings. You must know all of God, yesterday, today and forever.

Devo God’s word Part 1
Hebrews 13:8 (NIV) 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
John 1:1-5 (NIV) 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
We understand where we are going here, we must understand God never changes. Jesus is God and He never changes. Jesus is our rock. Jesus is the word of God. All the creative power of the Godhead is released through Him. All through the Bible we plainly see that God’s power is initiated when the word is spoken. God said and it was so. All substance as we know it came about after God spoke. The universe, earth, vegetation, animals, and man. Life came about after God spoke and still does. Jesus came into the world to show us life came through Him and still does. He is the light that shows us the way to the secrets of God, because He is God. What I am getting at is this. Old Testament or New God’s word is God’s word. It disturbs me when people try to say we should not use the Old because it has been done away with. If that is the case why did Jesus and the writers of the New Testament use the Old to validate the New? The Old is the foundation of the New. The New is a continuation of the Old. You might say there is only One Testament and it is Gods. There is life in the Old and it is Jesus. You cannot understand one without the other, period.
