Devo Jesus our brother part four
Philippians 2:811 (NIV)
8 And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death--
even death on a cross!
9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
Colossians 3:1 (NIV)
3 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
Jesus was at the right hand of God before He came down to Earth as God. It is His return that amazes me. He returned not only fully God, but also fully man. Man sitting at the right hand of God and for this reason He can and continues to intercede for us. God also exalted man through Christ to the highest position of authority under God (for Christ is subject to the Father and so are we 1 Corinthians 15:27).

Hebrews 2:10-11 (NIV)
10 In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what he suffered. 11 Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters.
Hebrews 2:17 (NIV)
17 For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people.
It is through the suffering of Christ that you and I were made like Him and by which He calls us brothers and sisters. Adam was made in the likeness of God, but Christ was made in the likeness of man. God made in the likeness of man. WOW! He humbled himself so that we might be born again in the likeness of God again. What more could I say and yet there is more.

1 Corinthians 15:47-49 (NIV)
47 The first man was of the dust of the earth; the second man is of heaven. 48 As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth; and as is the heavenly man, so also are those who are of heaven. 49 And just as we have borne the image of the earthly man, so shall we bear the image of the heavenly man.
I am writing this because Becky my wife says I take too much for granted concerning what people know of the Bible. I am also writing this because I got a comment through my Blog that went Like this “Where in the word of God does Jesus or the Holy Spirit say Jesus is my brother?”. Now I have no idea if this person is just wanting to know where it says this or they are questioning if this is true. Either way it does concern me. This is a basic truth. It is a foundational truth for what Christianity is about, so I feel I must address it.
Adam was of course the first man and we bear his likeness, the good, bad, and the ugly. We are born of the flesh and and so have to deal with the flesh as he did. We are all brothers and sisters in this fact. Jesus was the second born of God. He came down to us in the likeness of Adam’s flesh so we may be born again in His likeness. Romans 8:29 (NIV)29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. Jesus was the first born of us all who are in Christ. Just as we are Adam’s brothers and sisters, so we are Christ’s. Like Adam he was the first born, but through Christ we are born of the Spirit.
