Devo How to avoid temptation part 5
1 Timothy 6:6-10 (NIV)
6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. 8 But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. 9 Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
Be content. Trust God for what He knows is best for you. His will be done. Be careful what you ask for. Wanting to get rich will lead to temptation and a trap of Satan. It does not say might but you will fall into a trap and it will destroy you. Money is not bad it is the love of it that will lead to destruction. Many will leave the faith because of it. Where is your heart? Where your heart is your treasure will be. Pastor Jeff Lane
Devo How to avoid temptation part 4
Luke 22:39-46 (NIV)
39 Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and his disciples followed him. 40 On reaching the place, he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.” 41 He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, 42 “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” 43 An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him. 44 And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.[a]
45 When he rose from prayer and went back to the disciples, he found them asleep, exhausted from sorrow. 46 “Why are you sleeping?” he asked them. “Get up and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.”
There are different kinds of temptation. One is the temptation not to do God’s will. Ever wonder what might have been different if the apostles had stayed up and prayed? I do. Prayer can keep you on the right track. Help you to stay in God’s will. Let’s face it is easier to fall asleep than to walk in God’s ways.
Proverbs 6:10-11 (NIV)10 A little sleep, a little slumber,
a little folding of the hands to rest--
11 and poverty will come on you like a thief
and scarcity like an armed man.
This applies to spiritual poverty and scarcity also.

Matthew 6:9-13 (NIV)
9 “This, then, is how you should pray:
“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
One of the questions people ask me is how to avoid temptation. Simple, ask God each day to help you to not be led into it. Best start for your day. I find people tend to forget to start the day without praying what is in the Lord’s prayer. It was given to us for a reason; to keep us happy and out of trouble.
