Devo God’s overwhelming Love and Grace Part 8
Genesis 4:10-15 (NIV)
10 The Lord said, “What have you done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground. 11 Now you are under a curse and driven from the ground, which opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand. 12 When you work the ground, it will no longer yield its crops for you. You will be a restless wanderer on the earth.”
13 Cain said to the Lord, “My punishment is more than I can bear. 14 Today you are driving me from the land, and I will be hidden from your presence; I will be a restless wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me.”
15 But the Lord said to him, “Not so[a]; anyone who kills Cain will suffer vengeance seven times over.” Then the Lord put a mark on Cain so that no one who found him would kill him.
God gives Cain every chance to repent and yet he remains heartless. He has no remorse for the brother he killed. God shows His grace and mercy to Cain by leaving the sins unpunished and placing a curse on him to wake him up. The curse is not to punish but God in His love to drive the sinner home. Cain decides to live out of God’s presence and have his family live there too. Scary. God even provides protection for Cain from those who might seek his life. What a loving God we serve. I often appeal to the compassionate side of God when praying for the lost. Asking God to heal them and give them more time to repent before they die. He often heals them and some have come to the Lord as a result of His grace and love.
