Devo Under His wings
Psalm 91:1-7 (NIV)
1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.” 3 Surely he will save you
from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
This verse was prophesied over me when I was only a boy. I had no idea at the time what it would mean to me. You see it is when I dwell alone with God and spend personal time with Him, and get to know Him that I overcome. I might be better saying that He overcomes my enemies for me. Like a mother hen with her chicks under he wings my God fights my battles. Those little chicks are guarded and covered with their mothers wings and can’t even see the enemy so He guards me. I go out to battle all the time. Every day fighting for someone. God showed me this many years ago that this would be my lot, but every warrior needs a break and the battle does not stop. God is my refuge and in Him will I trust. We defeat more of the enemy in our alone time with Him than in the thick of battle. Let them fall at your side, but never forsake your time with Him. If you don’t you will fall too.
