Devo Walking in faith Part 11
James 5:13-16 (NIV)
13 Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
I’m sick does that mean I have no faith? Well it is obvious to me that Christians got sick back in the Apostles time also. Christians will get sick from time to time. Does it mean I have sinned? No it says ‘if’ they have sinned not because they have sinned. Satan is as a roaring lion seeking someone to devour. Satan will attack us and I believe that is one reason different people have different gifts. We are the body of Christ and different parts of the body have different functions. We need each other and Satan would love to keep us divided. Case in point, there are many believers who believe that healing was done away with the Apostles. They teach, sleep, and breathe this. Sad but true. They actually think they are doing the body of Christ a service. Well a body without the auto-immune system don’t last long. It is as a result of this type of man made thinking many suffer needlessly and think they are doing it for Christ. They are left too weak to do the work of God. I am not sure this is a lack of faith as much as a lack of spiritual understanding. Though for many it is an excuse for not getting healed, which often times is just spiritual laziness or lack of faith. They just quit standing.
