Devo Yoked to God
2 Corinthians 6:14-18 (NIV)
14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? 15 What harmony is there between Christ and Belial[a]? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? 16 What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said:
“I will live with them
and walk among them,
and I will be their God,
and they will be my people.”[b]
17 Therefore, “Come out from them
and be separate,
says the Lord.
Touch no unclean thing,
and I will receive you.”[c]
18 And, “I will be a Father to you,
and you will be my sons and daughters,
says the Lord Almighty.”
When my children started to date I made it adamantly clear they were not to date non-believers. It didn’t make it easy on them in the short term, but saved them grief in the long term. Don’t date non-believers, don’t fall in love with them and be tempted to break God’s command, therefore saving yourself a lot of grief and have a blessed marriage. You have nothing in common with them. They are of this world you are of God’s. We are to live a holy life to God and have Godly offspring. Don’t touch any unclean thing. It isn’t because you’re better than them, but cleansed by the blood of Jesus. You are separated to Him and from the things of this world. This is what brought the world under the curse of Noah’s flood. Do you want to be cursed of God or blessed? Water flows in the easiest direction so do people. It is easier to sin than not. You and your children will gravitate toward sin not God.
