Devo Where’s the faith Part 7
Isaiah 7:9 New International Version (NIV)
9 The head of Ephraim is Samaria,
and the head of Samaria is only Remaliah’s son.
If you do not stand firm in your faith,
you will not stand at all.’”
1 Peter 5:6-11 New International Version (NIV)
6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 11 To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.
We must stand firm in our faith that God has given us. This says: “you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.” It does not say you won’t undergo suffering. We will all undergo suffering who are in Christ for if the teacher did so will the student. It is in this suffering we must stand firm in our faith and it will carry us through the trial we are undergoing. These trials are common to God’s people so to build the body up not tear it down. It is in the valley we find the Lord who is right there with us. Meshach, Shadrack, and Abednego were thrown in the fire to be destroyed, but God was there with them not looking in as others were but in the fire. You want to see God you got to go into the fire. Stand in your faith or don’t stand at all but be where that faith carries you. I would rather have been in the fire than looking in. I would rather be in the wilderness with Elijah than looking across the waters. I would rather be in the lion’s den with Daniel and Jesus than standing outside in anguish wonder if God saved him. A lady who knew Becky and I and all we had gone through and had watched from a distance and once said to me “I would like to see and experience the miracles you two have”. I looked at her and said “would you really”? She asked “what do you mean”? I asked her if she was willing to say “God your will be done” and then go where He leads you knowing that Satan will be waiting to destroy you and yours? Are you willing to put your children on the altar knowing what they will have to endure? To have your daughter left crippled and dying, and being told she has a few minutes to live and they refuse to give her blood because they say it is a waste, so say your goodbyes and be done with it. You have two choices: say goodbye or fight and stand. The anguish I felt was unbearable, but we stood in our faith and God healed her. How about being mocked, called a liar, because God healed you. And all this by the church after being healed of blindness or having your skinned burned off and restored. Don’t get me wrong I would go through it a thousand times over. But if you want to see God you must walk by faith, stand your ground in every battle, submit yourself to Him, and then you will see Him and so will those around you. This is supernatural faith that only comes through obeying Him in the everyday, mundane things of life. People can say “oh that is so exciting” without always realizing we go from glory to glory. Supernatural faith comes from faithfulness in everyday life, if you can’t obey in your everyday faith you will not in times of trouble. You will fall!

Devo Where’s the faith Part 6
Romans 10:12-21 New International Version (NIV)
12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
16 But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?” 17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. 18 But I ask: Did they not hear? Of course they did:
“Their voice has gone out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.” 19 Again I ask: Did Israel not understand? First, Moses says, “I will make you envious by those who are not a nation;
I will make you angry by a nation that has no understanding.” 20 And Isaiah boldly says, “I was found by those who did not seek me;
I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me.” 21 But concerning Israel he says, “All day long I have held out my hands
to a disobedient and obstinate people.”
James 1:19-22 New International Version (NIV)
19 My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, 20 because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. 21 Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.
22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
Faith comes by hearing but there are other qualifiers. It must be delivered by somebody who is sent by God or commissioned by God. It takes action, you must obey it for it to work. You cannot be rebellious or disobedient to God’s word. Opposite of rebellion is obedience. You must do what it says. It is not faith to do as you please but to do what pleases God.

Devo Where’s the faith Part 5
1 John 5:1-5 New International Version (NIV)
5 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. 2 This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. 3 In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, 4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.
Those who walk by faith overcome the world, sin and worldliness. If we walk by faith, we obey Him both by not sinning and doing what He asks of us. I realized that I was not the most qualified to do His work, so I once asked God why he had me doing many of the things He did. He said because you will. You will obey me. Many people never do anything for God because they can’t hear Him because they continue to live in sin and a life of worldliness. They are constantly arguing for a life of worldliness instead of seeing how close they can live for God. The white noise of this world keeps them from hearing His voice, therefore they are a bunch of do nothings. They argue with God about tithing, drinking, entertainment, giving, going to bars, music, abortion, pot, horoscopes, course joking, living together, homosexuality, and so on. They are more interested in meeting their “needs” than doing His will. They call those who abstain from such things, prudes and goody two shoes. They are more interested in seeing how far they can live from God than to live close to Him. They never know the joy of His presence therefore they don’t walk by faith. Of them the saying is true they return to their wallowing in mud.

Hebrews 6:11-12 New International Version (NIV)
11 We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, so that what you hope for may be fully realized. 12 We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.
James 2:14-26 New International Version (NIV)
14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”
Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. 19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.
20 You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless[a]? 21 Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? 22 You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. 23 And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,”[b] and he was called God’s friend. 24 You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.
25 In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction? 26 As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.
Slothful, lazy, and idol faith doesn’t cut it. Faith is what we do. If we have faith we act on it. We live by it. We move forward because of it. Lazy faith is of no value. Many people say they have faith but there is no action, so we don’t see any substance to their faith. They start with nothing and end there. Their faith is dead on arrival. It has no value. Faith that is living is overcoming faith.

Devo Where’s the Faith? Part 3
Hebrews 11:1-3 King James Version (KJV)
11 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
2 For by it the elders obtained a good report.
3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
Do you have faith? Where’s the beef? Where's the substance of your faith? There is evidence in your life when you walk by faith. People can see and experience your faith. Faith is substance. It is tangible. It is something that becomes visible from the invisible or humanly impossible. We see the men and women of the Bible who walked by faith and know them for the evidence of their faith. Everything we see, experience, and that is tangible comes into being from nothing. You see and experience the evidence of faith. Faith is not just believing, it is action. You act upon what you believe. Will people, one day after you are gone, say they were a person of faith? Look at the things they did and God did because they lived.

Hebrews 11:6 New International Version (NIV)
6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

With sincere and intense conviction we must seek God and believe He will reward us for doing so. I would call that a prayer of faith.

Where’s the Faith? Part 1
Luke 18 New International Version (NIV)
18 Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. 2 He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. 3 And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’
4 “For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, 5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’”
6 And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7 And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8 I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”
I have heard people say: “ If you pray more than once, it’s not faith.” This is in direct contradiction to Jesus’s words. He says if you believe you will never stop praying. You never give up on God because you believe He hears you and will come to your aid. You believe He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. This is a prayer of faith. Don’t give up.

Devo Ever increasing Faith Part 5
Matthew 8:17 New International Version (NIV)
17 This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:
“He took up our infirmities
and bore our diseases.” Matthew 8:16 New International Version (NIV)16 When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick.
Acts 4:30-31 New International Version (NIV)
30 Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”
31 After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.
Matthew 18:18 New International Version (NIV)
18 “Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you lose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
James 4:17 New International Version (NIV)
17 If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them. Matthew 25:24-30 New International Version (NIV)24 “Then the man who had received one bag of gold came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25 So I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.’
26 “His master replied, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? 27 Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest.
28 “‘So take the bag of gold from him and give it to the one who has ten bags. 29 For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. 30 And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
Moved by the Holy Spirit the prophets of old spoke and their words were fulfilled. Jesus spoke to demons and sicknesses and they went. The early disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly and with authority and changed the world. God gives us the authority to release His will through the spoken word. The word releases the power of God on earth. We are given that authority to do His will on earth or we can bind it by doing nothing. Now that we know the good we ought to do let us be found to be good and faithful servants doing His will, not living in rebellion and doing nothing and living in the sin like those who did nothing with their talents. They will be thrown out where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

2 Peter 1:20-21 New International Version (NIV)
20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
2 Corinthians 3:6 New International Version (NIV)
6 He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
Romans 16:25-27 New International Version (NIV)
25 Now to him who is able to establish you in accordance with my gospel, the message I proclaim about Jesus Christ, in keeping with the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, 26 but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all the Gentiles might come to the obedience that comes from faith— 27 to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen.
Romans 10:17 New International Version (NIV)
17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.
God chose to reveal Himself through the written word which is given when men were carried along by His Holy Spirit. Only to read that word and not be revealed by the Holy Spirit what the author meant can lead to death. It is the Spirit that gives life. God chooses to reveal Himself to those He chooses to. God revealed Himself through created things so men are without excuse, but He also chose to Reveal Himself through the written word so by faith men might come to know Him. We come by faith to obedience of not only His written word but by that spoken word that God has inspired others to Preach to us. We also are to come to the obedience by faith of His Holy Spirit speaking to us in our selves. My friends God poured out His Spirit on all flesh not just a few who have man made papers on their walls. He reveals His word to us so we might know Him. When we know Him our faith like our relationship will be ever increasing.

Devo Ever increasing Faith Part 1
John 1:1-5 New International Version (NIV)1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
John 1:14 New International Version (NIV)
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Recently I have been teaching on increasing our faith. I have emphasized relationship with God is the most important thing in having more faith in our live. After all relationship with God came before the written word. This is not at all to negate the importance of the Word or that the word of course is instrumental in both relation and increasing faith in God. The Word (Jesus) came before all things, so to know Him is to know God. He can be known to us through prayer and the written word, but He was before the written Word because He is the spoken Word. Before the word written somebody had a relationship with the Holy Spirit to know what to write, because men were carried along by the Holy Spirit or inspired by Him to write it down. We express ourselves and communicate with others through our five senses, but with God it is by our Spirit. He became flesh and showed Himself to us through the physical senses, but He came so we would be born again spiritually so we could go to Him. The written word will lead you to Him, but the spirit will give the means to communicate with Him. Communication is the key to all relationships and without it there is no relationship. Want to know Him? Want more faith in your life? The answer is to communicate on a spiritual plain. Not by might, not by power, but by my Spirit say the Lord. The church was birthed on the day of Pentecost when God poured out His Spirit on all flesh. Let’s start our study here.
