Devo If I had only listened
Proverbs 1:20-33 New International Version (NIV)
20 Out in the open wisdom calls aloud,
she raises her voice in the public square;
21 on top of the wall she cries out,
at the city gate she makes her speech:
22 “How long will you who are simple love your simple ways?
How long will mockers delight in mockery
and fools hate knowledge?
23 Repent at my rebuke!
Then I will pour out my thoughts to you,
I will make known to you my teachings.
24 But since you refuse to listen when I call
and no one pays attention when I stretch out my hand,
25 since you disregard all my advice
and do not accept my rebuke,
26 I in turn will laugh when disaster strikes you;
I will mock when calamity overtakes you--
27 when calamity overtakes you like a storm,
when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind,
when distress and trouble overwhelm you.
28 “Then they will call to me but I will not answer;
they will look for me but will not find me,
29 since they hated knowledge
and did not choose to fear the Lord.
30 Since they would not accept my advice
and spurned my rebuke,
31 they will eat the fruit of their ways
and be filled with the fruit of their schemes.
32 For the waywardness of the simple will kill them,
and the complacency of fools will destroy them;
33 but whoever listens to me will live in safety
and be at ease, without fear of harm.”
I have you ever wished that you followed your parent’s advice? They warned you and now you are in a life changing disaster. Maybe you got pregnant, married the wrong person, killed somebody, hurt somebody, or just plan messed up your life and others.
Wisdom calls to us from all that God has created. Romans says just by the very nature of things we know God exists. She is more precious than rubies. She will guide you in paths of righteousness and blessing. Knowing wisdom is there and possessing it is two different things. Wisdom may cry out to you but to enjoy the fruits of wisdom we must obey her. We only possess her when we obey her. The simple walk in the simple ways of this world. Sin makes you stupid and blinds to wisdom. Rebellion is like the sin of divination. The simple run after divination because they are to lazy to seek wisdom for themselves and fall into disaster. They are motivated by their natural senses instead of the Spirit of God. You are made in His image so are without excuse. God says if you only repent, He will make His ways known to you. He will pour His Spirit into your hearts. He will heal your world. Just humble yourself and stop mocking God. Those who hardenl their hearts to God he will bring ruin on their lives and turn a deaf ear to their cries. He will laugh at you because you turned your back to His advice. You will eat of the produce of your own ways because of your complacency of your ways. It will bring destruction on you, but the righteous and those who listen to God’s rebuke will not live in fear of tomorrow. They will live in peace and safety. Listen to your father’s rebuke and your mother’s warnings for it is the wisdom of God. His grace given to you.

Do not be Unequally Yoked
2 Corinthians 6:14-18 (NIV)
14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? 15 What harmony is there between Christ and Belial[a]? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? 16 What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said:
“I will live with them
and walk among them,
and I will be their God,
and they will be my people.”[b]
“Come out from them
and be separate,
says the Lord.
Touch no unclean thing,
and I will receive you.”[c]
18 And, “I will be a Father to you,
and you will be my sons and daughters,
says the Lord Almighty.”
This not only applies to dating, marriage and relationships but also in business. When my children started to date I made it adamantly clear they were not to date non-believers. It didn’t make it easy on them in the short term, but saved them grief in the long term. Don’t date non-believers, don’t fall in love with them and be tempted to break God’s command, therefore saving yourself a lot of grief and have a blessed marriage. You have nothing in common with them. They are this world you are of Gods. We are to live a holy life to God and have Godly offspring. Don’t touch any unclean thing. It isn’t because you’re better than them, but cleansed by the blood of Jesus. You are separated to Him and from the things of this world. This is what brought the world under the curse of Noah’s flood. Do you want to be cursed of God or blessed? Water flows in the easiest direction so do people. It is easier to sin than not. You and your children will gravitate toward sin not God.

Devo Have we become a naïve people
Romans 16:17-18 New International Version (NIV)
17 I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. 18 For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people. The teaching Paul was most likely concerned about was a teaching that taught the people of God did not have to obey the moral law. (See Romans 6:1-2) These false teachers were known for using high sounding arguments with comforting word to convince there hearer that the people of God who were saved by grace could go on sinning and be saved. They like to flatter their audience and tickle their ears with deceptive persuasive speeches.
James 3:16 (NIV) For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.
They were only interested in their own gain and selfish ambition which leads to every evil practice. You see naïve people run after such prophets. They lack wisdom that comes through experience, so using poor judgement they follow these false teachers and preachers. These false teachers promise the world, but God saves you from the world.
Jude 3-4 New International Version (NIV) 3 Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people. 4 For certain individuals whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord. Jude 11 New International Version (NIV) 11 Woe to them! They have taken the way of Cain; they have rushed for profit into Balaam’s error; they have been destroyed in Korah’s rebellion.
As you can see Jude the brother of James writes about such people that pervert the word of God for profit by enticing the people of God into sinning. This started in the church from the beginning satan is still using these tactics today. He knows that people will be carried off by their own desires into sin. They look for justification, choosing to believe a lie rather than the truth.

Devo Who do you say He is?
Matthew 16:13-20 New International Version (NIV)
13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?”
14 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
15 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. 18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock, I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”20 Then he ordered his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah.
Who do you say Jesus is? Peter’s statement that Jesus was the Messiah and Son of the living God was and is the foundation of the church. It is this foundational statement that we are all saved and walk in authority. It is the statement that hell will not overcome us. This was revealed to Peter not through a man, but by God. It is a God kind of statement. Sometimes we know that we know what God says to us. No one can take that away. This is the starting place for our faith.
Romans 10:8-9 (NIV)
8 But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: 9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
God puts His Word in your heart, and you receive it. How do we know, because out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. We say what’s in our heart. We are given God’s word which is Jesus, who is the key to God’s Kingdom. Jesus also said: “Acts 4:12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” There is no other way to the authority, power, and glory of God. Just as Jesus could only do the will of the Father and could only speak what the Father said, so are we given that same Holy Spirit to bind and loose on earth and heaven the Father’s will. John 16:13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. Who is Jesus? “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Who are you? Romans 8:17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
You are His children and heirs. WOW!

Devo Truth in a world of chaos (July 22 2019)
John 8:42-47 New International Version (NIV)
42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come here from God. I have not come on my own; God sent me.43 Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. 44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45 Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! 46 Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe me? 47 Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.”
Recently while on the air I had Becky read a story that was sent to me on Facebook. It was a touching story about 911 and a father who was a fireman that supposedly gotten saved while saving the life of a pregnant woman just before he died is the catastrophe. Later I received a notice that the story was possibly not true or at least that there was no one connected to the fire department with those names. Now I do not put much stock in these self-proclaimed experts in truth, because I have caught them in more than one lie or greatly twisting the truth. At this point I don’t know the validity of the story nor do I know how to prove or disprove it. I could see no reason somebody would make up such a lie or what the purpose in doing so would accomplish, other than maybe trying to discredit Christians. We live in a world of lies anymore and no wonder satan is the father of lies and the truth is not in him. Look at 1 John 5:19 Amplified Bible (AMP)
19 We know [for a fact] that we are of God, and the whole world [around us] lies in the power of the evil one [opposing God and His precepts]. Is it any wonder that the news, media, public officials, and the rest of this world only do what their father does? The chaos around us is unsettling and beyond description. We no longer know what to believe. They can’t even be truthful about their sex. They tell us boys are girls and girls are boys. They call good evil and evil good. They lie when the truth would be to their own interest. I can’t figure out why anyone would take the time to make up these lies or how they have the time to.
Jesus said I am the way the truth. (John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.) Jesus is the real truth where there is no chaos. Satan always brings chaos, doubt and fear and yet he tries to make men believe it is God who does this.
I have often heard people say the truth will set you free, but that’s not the whole story. The problem is what is the truth? How do we know it? It says: John 8:31-32 New International Version (NIV) 31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”. The truth is made known to us when we hold to the teachings of Jesus, the Bible because Jesus is the word and the truth. To know the truth we must obey it to be set free from the hold of satan. Even if one could know the truth without Christ it would be of no value to them if they did not follow Jesus, but how do we know it we follow Him.
Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.) We obey Him.
The world tells us don’t look at my actions listen to my words and I will lead you to a better place. Jesus says listen to my words and do as I do, and you will go to a better place. Winston Churchill was reported as saying; “I no longer listen to what people say, I watch what they do. Behavior never lies.” Jesus the king of kings, God of all creation suffered and died for you. Satan became a snake and said you can’t trust God. Who are you going to believe?
Turn off the media and open the Word.

Hebrews 10:35-37 King James Version (KJV)
35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.
36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.
Many years ago I was seeking the Lord for an answer to my prayer. It didn’t happen immediately but through it I learned to wait upon the Lord. Many times I would feel anxious or let down and at times very lonely. But as I sought the Lord and was reading His word one day this verse just leaped out at me. Do not give up, but many times we just have to have patience and after we have done all we can do, pray, seek, and wait, the answer will come. God is not a man that He should lie and if His word says it we can stand upon it. By the way I did receive the promise and that promise at that time was eventually meeting the man I would marry, yours truly Pastor Jeff.

Devo Wisdom how to get it
James 1:2-4 New International Version (NIV)
2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
Romans 5:3 King James Version (KJV)
3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
We ask God for wisdom and He will give it to us liberally, but if tribulation gives us wisdom then what is it God is about to give us liberally? Paul gloried in trials and tribulation because of the end result. He saw it as a way to grow. Wisdom comes through trials. Trials are the thing that teaches us what we need to finish the race. Wisdom will in time keep us from many unnecessary trials. It will help us choose the right path and trials. It can save your life and help you to save others. Good crops grow in the valley. It is through adversity we grow and mature. It’s funny but it is the things I got wrong on a test that I remember the right answer. Sometimes there is not a wrong answer but a better one. Nothing is easy about gaining wisdom, but time and circumstance can bring it. Be careful what you pray for you just might get it.

I want to be freed of this Guilt Part 5
Then Pastor why do I sometime still feel guilty? Because your listening to satan. He comes as a roaring lion, but God comes in a whisper. Be still and know He is God.
Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down. The last thing to be put under Christ feet is death and the grave. Have you ever felt that way that satan is accusing you day and night, screaming in your ear so you don’t hear the truth? I think I can tell you with full confidence if you have not you will someday.
You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. Who you going to believe satan the father of lies or Jesus the righteous one? It was the religious people who Jesus said this to. The ones who thought they could be self-righteous by being good. He called this group children of satan, but we are the seed of Abraham who is the Father of faith. We are righteous not of our own accord, but by faith in Jesus. You see no further sacrifice is needed. Jesus made you clean and guilt free forever. Stop listening to the father of lies and walk by faith in Jesus and be set free.

I want to be freed of this Guilt Part 4
Hebrews 7:25-28 New International Version (NIV)
25 Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
26 Such a high priest truly meets our need, one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens. 27 Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself. 28 For the law appoints as high priests men in all their weakness; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever.
You see it is Jesus who came back from the dead and is at God’s right-hand interceding for us. He did not come into the world to condemn it but to save it.
Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. It God is for you who can be against us? Jesus see to it before the Father we are under the blood and no further condemnation can be used against us.
Romans 8:1 [ Life Through the Spirit ] Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,

Devo I want to be freed of this Guilt Part three
Hebrews 10:11-14 New International Version (NIV)
11 Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, 13 and since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool. 14 For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.
What sacrifice can you offer God to take away your sin, shame and guilt? Furthermore, where is that guilt if Jesus took it away? Are you greater than Jesus? Can you offer God any sacrifice that can make you purer than this? He sacrificed Himself and He, not only a man, but being God is the greatest of sacrifices. All our sin is gone with our guilt and shame. We are clean before our judge. Who will enforce such a claim before God on His throne?
