The Spirit Does the Work
1 Corinthians 12:7 New International Version (NIV)
7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.
We must humble ourselves and submit to the Holy Spirit, because it is He who does Father’s work in us. We are His servants called to do God’s will which only the Holy Spirit knows and makes known to those who submit.

Devo The Spirit vs Knowledge Part 1
Hosea 4:6 New International Version (NIV)
6 my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.
“Because you have rejected knowledge,
I also reject you as my priests;
because you have ignored the law of your God,
I also will ignore your children.
I know at first it will seem like I may be contradicting myself, but if you are patient you will gain wisdom. The word knowledge here should be understanding also. The people of God had turned their backs on God and His word. They exchanged the wisdom of God for their own understanding. They rejected the laws of God for rule taught by men. The law was given to teach us we are sinners in need of a redeemer. It does not give life, but leads us to Christ and Him crucified. 2 Corinthians 3:6 King James Version (KJV) 6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. We can’t live by the law, with its rules and regulations which only lead to death. Following and knowing the letter of the law only leads us to death (Christ). It is the Spirit the leads to life, understanding and wisdom. Now we know that faith comes by hearing and knowing God’s word is important, but as Paul says knowledge puffs up. Adam and Eve were tempted because they thought they would gain wisdom through sinning, but they just gain knowledge they were now sinners. They now knew the difference between right and wrong but lack the wisdom as to overcome their sin. The enticement that knowledge gives you power and would make one great was all it took. They wanted praise for themselves and so they idolized themselves by trying to bypass God and tried to be like God. Sin brought death and the grave, but that same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead can live in us quicken our mortal bodies and give us victory over death and the grave. The Spirit gives life. Knowledge is good, but the Spirit is better. I had our friend Catherine give her testimony on the air recently. She did and gave twelve points on healing for and hour. It was very good, but when she was done, I asked her did you know this when God healed you and she replied no. Healing does not come through knowledge, but by God’s Spirit. Oh, we need to know the word but it’s not by might, nor by power, knowledge, but by God’s Spirit. It was the Spirit who revealed Jesus her healer to her. Philippians 4:7 New International Version (NIV) 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. The Holy Spirit gives you a peace, a knowing that transcends all knowledge, understanding, or anything else that this world can offer, that brings us the victory.

Devo Walking in faith Part 31
Isaiah 35 (NIV)
35 The desert and the parched land will be glad;
the wilderness will rejoice and blossom.
Like the crocus, 2 it will burst into bloom;
it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy.
The glory of Lebanon will be given to it,
the splendor of Carmel and Sharon;
they will see the glory of the Lord,
the splendor of our God.
3 Strengthen the feeble hands,
steady the knees that give way;
4 say to those with fearful hearts,
“Be strong, do not fear;
your God will come,
he will come with vengeance;
with divine retribution
he will come to save you.”
5 Then will the eyes of the blind be opened
and the ears of the deaf unstopped.
6 Then will the lame leap like a deer,
and the mute tongue shout for joy.
Water will gush forth in the wilderness
and streams in the desert.
7 The burning sand will become a pool,
the thirsty ground bubbling springs.
In the haunts where jackals once lay,
grass and reeds and papyrus will grow.
8 And a highway will be there;
it will be called the Way of Holiness;
it will be for those who walk on that Way.
The unclean will not journey on it;
wicked fools will not go about on it.
9 No lion will be there,
nor any ravenous beast;
they will not be found there.
But only the redeemed will walk there,
10 and those the Lord has rescued will return.
They will enter Zion with singing;
everlasting joy will crown their heads.
Gladness and joy will overtake them,
and sorrow and sighing will flee away.
Highways are called highways because they are built above the rest of the landscape. They are higher and keep the water, animals off, and made so you can see what’s ahead. The highway of God’s holiness is a road less traveled, but is a safe place where sickness, Satan, and the enemy can’t travel. It is the way of the believer. It is the way through the valley of death, while those off the road see death and destruction those on the road see the desert bloom. There is no fear there for it is the way of peace and safety. We see what’s ahead and we have no fear of tomorrow. Though it is a narrow road there is always room for more. It is a place of singing and joy. How do we get on the highway? Through the blood of Jesus. How do we stay on the highway? Through following Him and obeying His commandments. Walking in His holiness not ours.

Devo Walking in the spirit Part 30
5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. 7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8 Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.
9 You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. 10 But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness. 11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.
Paul says when I am the weakest I am the strongest. What does he mean? The more this flesh dies and is put under the more I lean on Jesus and the Spirit. Why do you think we fast? Why do little old ladies have such power in prayer? As I recently told one elderly lady: “You are in your prime spiritually.” How do we know we are beginning to walk more in the Spirit? It gives life to our mortal bodies. We start overcoming in the flesh in every way. Want to walk in the Spirit? Get filled with the Spirit. Wash daily in the word of God. Renew your mind in the word for faith comes by hearing, but this is the anointed preached word. Fast often. Put on the armor of God. The most important is to pray without ceasing. Prayer is the fight, the rest is a formality. Stay in constant contact with God. Satan’s power is sin. Our battle is more within than without if Satan can keep you distracted with him and the things of this world he’s got you. Get your eyes on Jesus and get the sin out.
