Devo Wisdom how to get it
James 1:2-4 New International Version (NIV)
2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
Romans 5:3 King James Version (KJV)
3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
We ask God for wisdom and He will give it to us liberally, but if tribulation gives us wisdom then what is it God is about to give us liberally? Paul gloried in trials and tribulation because of the end result. He saw it as a way to grow. Wisdom comes through trials. Trials are the thing that teaches us what we need to finish the race. Wisdom will in time keep us from many unnecessary trials. It will help us choose the right path and trials. It can save your life and help you to save others. Good crops grow in the valley. It is through adversity we grow and mature. It’s funny but it is the things I got wrong on a test that I remember the right answer. Sometimes there is not a wrong answer but a better one. Nothing is easy about gaining wisdom, but time and circumstance can bring it. Be careful what you pray for you just might get it.

Devo Finding wisdom
Proverbs 1:20-23 (NIV) 20 Out in the open wisdom calls aloud,
she raises her voice in the public square;
21 on top of the wall she cries out,
at the city gate she makes her speech:
22 “How long will you who are simple love your simple ways?
How long will mockers delight in mockery
and fools hate knowledge?
23 Repent at my rebuke!
Then I will pour out my thoughts to you,
I will make known to you my teachings.
If you want to know God’s thoughts, find wisdom. It cries to us. It is not up in the heavens or down in the depths of the earth. It is near you, it is in your mouth, just ask and God will give it to you. Submit to Him and he will lift you up. He will teach you in the morning, noon and night. He will give you dreams and visions. He will discipline you for your good. Just ask and know Him. He is not a God far away but nearby. Seek Him and He will be found by you. Pastor Jeff Lane
Devo Got wisdom
Proverbs 3:11-26 (NIV)
11 My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline,
and do not resent his rebuke,
12 because the Lord disciplines those he loves,
as a father the son he delights in. 13 Blessed are those who find wisdom,
those who gain understanding,
14 for she is more profitable than silver
and yields better returns than gold.
15 She is more precious than rubies;
nothing you desire can compare with her.
16 Long life is in her right hand;
in her left hand are riches and honor.
17 Her ways are pleasant ways,
and all her paths are peace.
18 She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her;
those who hold her fast will be blessed. 19 By wisdom the Lord laid the earth’s foundations,
by understanding he set the heavens in place;
20 by his knowledge the watery depths were divided,
and the clouds let drop the dew. 21 My son, do not let wisdom and understanding out of your sight,
preserve sound judgment and discretion;
22 they will be life for you,
an ornament to grace your neck.
23 Then you will go on your way in safety,
and your foot will not stumble.
24 When you lie down, you will not be afraid;
when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.
25 Have no fear of sudden disaster
or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked,
26 for the Lord will be at your side
and will keep your foot from being snared.
Wisdom comes though discipline. We are not born with it. It does not come from much learning. Wisdom comes from God through the experience of life. Even experience alone may not teach you wisdom. Some people never learn and keep doing the same thing over and over again. It comes from God and only by discipline though experiences of life. God leads us in the way out of His love for us. We go through trials so we can gain wisdom to protect us. It brings wealth, honor, love, protection, peace, and so much more. We have to submit to God’s discipline. It is His love being poured out on us. It is not pleasant at the time, but painful, but produces a harvest of righteousness and without holiness we can’t see God.

Devo Whose wisdom do you trust
Proverbs 16:25 (NIV)
25 There is a way that appears to be right,
but in the end it leads to death.
Proverbs 3:5-10 (NIV)
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord and shun evil.
8 This will bring health to your body
and nourishment to your bones.
9 Honor the Lord with your wealth,
with the firstfruits of all your crops;
10 then your barns will be filled to overflowing,
and your vats will brim over with new wine.
The way of the world seems so wise. We tend to trust more in this system because it seems so tangible to us. There is what appears to be a blessing from Satan. He blesses, if you want to call it that, people who follow him with the things of this world. The Jews often thought they were blessed of God when they had lots of material things not knowing destruction was just around the corner. They refused to listen to God’s prophets for this reason. They lost sight of God because of material things and their selfish ways. Sometimes God would send a curse of blessings in their lives. What is that? He would bless them materially just before He brought judgement. Why? It was then they would feel the full weight of what they might have had if they obeyed Him. No one misses what he never had. The world says to invest and hoard all we get so we can spend it on ourselves. God says to give Him the best. Our wisdom says keep it, hold on to it, but a man must lose his life to keep it. This is for every area of our lives, but if you can do it with money the other areas of your life will take care of themselves. He will multiply it and give it back.
